The US Department of Commerce has added 73 Russian aircraft to the sanctions list, which are prohibited from service abroad as part of EXPORT controls, REUTERS reports.

Previously, the list included 100 commercial and private aircraft used in RUSSIA, of which 33 are from Aeroflot's fleet, 23 from Azur Air, 14 from Nordwind, 12 each from Utair and AirBridgeCargo, five from Aviastar-TU. Another aircraft, Gulfstream G560, belongs to Roman Abramovich.

"International flights from Russia of these aircraft are effectively terminated by banning any foreign service of these aircraft," the US Department of Commerce said in a statement.

Rossiya Airlines transferred 125 aircraft to the Russian register Economics

The US and EU sanctions imposed since the end of February have also affected the Russian aviation industry. The European Union, in particular, banned the supply of aircraft and spare parts, as well as maintenance and insurance of the aircraft. The leased planes were required to be returned to the lessor by the end of March.
