The US Treasury imposed sanctions against Russian banks and their 42 subsidiaries

VEB.RF, Promsvyazbank and its HEAD, as well as 42 subsidiaries of these banks, were included in the sanctions list. Sanctions have also been imposed against a number of people from "Putin's inner circle"

The United States imposes sanctions against VEB, Promsvyazbank and 42 of their subsidiaries due to Russia's recognition of the DPR and LPR, according to the website of the Ministry of Finance.

“The sanctions mean that VEB and Promsvyazbank will no longer be able to do business in the US and are cut off from the US financial system. All their assets in US jurisdiction are frozen, and US citizens and entities are prohibited from doing business with them without special permission from the Office of Foreign Assets Control, ”the statement explains.

Such a measure is designed to "limit Russia's ability to enter into agreements on financing contracts in the defense sector" and to raise funds for the "campaign against Ukraine."

In addition, the sanctions list includes "influential Russians" from the inner circle of President Vladimir Putin, as well as members of their families. Among those sanctioned were:

the head of Promsvyazbank, Pyotr Fradkov, the son of the head of RISS Mikhail Fradkov, the former prime minister of RUSSIA; Denis Bortnikov - son of the head of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov; Vladimir Kiriyenko is the son of First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration and former Prime Minister Sergei Kiriyenko.
