Lithuania advocates the introduction of sectoral sanctions against Belarus due to a diplomatic conflict that arose after an emergency landing in Minsk of a Ryanair passenger plane. This was stated by the HEAD of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry Gabrielius Landsbergis, according to Delfi.
“We, interrupting economic relations, in fact, must impose sanctions on companies trading with this country. <...> We are for the earliest possible adoption of the fourth package of sanctions and for the start of discussions on the fifth package, which will also cover certain sectors - oil, where large-scale trade with the EU is observed, ”he said.
As the minister noted, such restrictions are introduced by decision of the heads of the EU Council, Vilnius itself cannot take such a step.
