The Lithuanian authorities are considering the issue of closing the border with RUSSIA and Belarus in connection with the hostilities in Ukraine. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Gabrielius Landsbergis, reports lrytas.lt.
“There are discussions [on the issue of closing the borders with Russia and Belarus]. I can't give an exact date. When the decisions to be worked out are made, then we will announce them. it is too early to talk about it,” said the head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry.
According to the minister, even after the border is closed, the transit of Russian energy resources through the territory of Lithuania will continue. “That is why we are working hard to find a European or regional solution,” he added.

On Monday, April 4, Landsbergis announced the decision to lower the level of diplomatic relations with Russia. The country recalled its ambassador, and also ordered the Russian ambassador to leave its borders. In addition, the Russian consulate in Klaipeda will be closed.
