The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has positively assessed Moscow's decision to return management of the company's production facility, which is located in the Leningrad Region , to the Italian corporation Ariston, the newspaper Repubblica reports.
The department noted that they had carried out "long-term work", including with Italian and European business associations, to properly resolve Ariston's problems in RUSSIA. The Italian Embassy in Moscow also actively participated in this work, the department specified.
The Foreign Ministry also recalled that in April 2024 , Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani created a working group to protect Italian companies doing business in Russia. The decision was made in response to Moscow's desire to deprive Ariston of control over its manufacturing plant, the department noted.
Ariston Termo Rus LLC was registered in 2002 in Vsevolozhsk, Leningrad Region. The company's main activity is the production of household electrical appliances. The corporation ceased operations in Russia after the start of the military operation in Ukraine .
In the spring of 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the temporary transfer of the Russian subsidiary of Ariston to Gazprom Household Systems. In response, the Russian ambassador to Italy, Alexey Paramonov, was summoned to the country's Foreign Ministry to provide "clarifications on the issue of the nationalization of Ariston Thermo Group." Tajani called the decision unexpected and promised that the Italian government would protect local businesses.
On March 26, 2025, Putin cancelled the decision to transfer Ariston to the management of a Gazprom structure. The corporation welcomed the HEAD of state's decision and announced its intention to continue working in Russia.
