None of the businessmen can change the position of the Russian authorities, such calculations by countries imposing sanctions are “stupid, stupid,” said Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“If we talk about business, this is also a part of our society, including big business - they are, as they say, guilty without guilt. Let's ask ourselves a question: in general, at least one of this big business is at least to some extent capable of influencing a small fraction, an iota, on the position of the country's leadership? I’m telling you straight: no, no way,” he said.
Medvedev explained the lack of such an opportunity for entrepreneurs by various tasks of the authorities and business: the country's leadership focuses primarily on the interests of the people, while businessmen are only concerned with managing their companies.
According to the deputy chairman of the Security Council, the weak point of the "stupid sanctions" against RUSSIA is a lack of understanding of the mentality, "the attitude of the Russian people." The West, with its sanctions, is trying to set the Russians against the president “in the expectation that in the end it will result in some kind of trouble for the authorities,” but the people in a difficult situation are ready to stand up for the state and “be the guide of the state course”: restrictions and deprivations unite people, not divide them, Medvedev is convinced.
