Russia needs to "forgive weak countries, ignore the United States and punish Europe," said Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, paraphrasing a quote attributed to Condoleezza Rice.

Rice served as US Secretary of State from 2005 to 2009, and as the president's national security adviser from 2001 to 2005. "Punish France, ignore Germany, and forgive Russia" is the famous quote she allegedly made 20 years ago to the anti-war troika who disapproved of the US course in Iraq.

Medvedev said that this "linguistic triad" is perfectly suited to the situation of the West's hybrid war against Russia. However, in his opinion, it needs to be refined:

• Thus, Russia needs to forgive those weak countries that “succumbed to the pressure of the Anglo-Saxons and took at least a passive part in the anti-Russian Western trash (mainly a number of countries in Asia and Latin America).”
• The United States must be ignored because “we don’t see any friendship in the next 100 years, and fighting with America is expensive – a direct conflict will obviously escalate into a global nuclear war.”
• And Europe needs to be punished, since the current Old World “does not evoke any emotions other than the deepest disgust.” Medvedev said that it was Europe that had become the “main stronghold of Russophobia” in the world, and that it was to blame for the breakdown of the Istanbul negotiations and the unleashing of the “incompetent sanctions campaign, which brought its citizens colossal losses.” “It was bloodthirsty Europe that fed all the most rabid demons of war, without regard for the losses of the parties to the conflict,” the politician added.

According to Medvedev, Europe must be “punished” by all available means: political, economic, and all sorts of hybrid ones. “And therefore, any destructive processes in Europe must be helped. Let all the vile mugs of European bureaucrats disappear in the stream of future civil clashes!” the deputy chairman of the Security Council wrote.

Medvedev has repeatedly criticized the West for imposing anti-Russian sanctions and claimed that NATO countries are directly involved not in a hybrid war, but in a full-fledged war with Russia. "Our country is in a state of war, and with the entire Western world. And therefore we will proceed from the documents signed by the HEAD of state. And the decision, of course, is made by the supreme commander-in-chief, that is, the president of the country," he said in November.

In January, the politician also threatened to use nuclear weapons if Ukraine used Western missiles to destroy launchers in Russia. "This is not a right to self-defense, but a direct and obvious basis for us to use nuclear weapons against such a state. All the heirs of Hitler, Mussolini, Petain and others in today's Europe, who support the Nazis in Kiev, should remember this," he said.
