Many international institutions have lost the confidence of countries due to the sanctions imposed against RUSSIA, former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl said on the TRT World TV channel.
“I think that many players in the international arena, watching the sanctions regime against Russia, also think: this can happen to us. I would say that trust in many institutions has been lost,” she said.
At the same time, according to Kneisl, the sanctions did not lead to the desired results and did not change the policy of Moscow.
After the start of the military operation in Ukraine, many countries, in particular the member states of the European Union, the United States , Japan and others, imposed sanctions against Russia. The restrictions affected the banking and high-tech sectors, the EXPORT of Russian products, in particular energy resources, and the import of high-tech products.
In addition, many Western countries have announced the freezing of Russian assets on their territory.
Moscow considers these sanctions illegitimate and has repeatedly introduced retaliatory restrictions. Some countries, such as CHINA , have opposed the imposition of unilateral sanctions. Former Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe said that anti-Russian sanctions would not help resolve the conflict in Ukraine, but could further increase tensions and aggravate the situation. At the same time, he stressed, Beijing opposes the fighting in Ukraine.
