French Foreign Minister announced EU plans to impose sanctions against Wagner PMCs

The EU began to discuss the possible imposition of sanctions against Wagner PMCs in connection with the situation in Mali. Lavrov said,

The European Union agreed to prepare legal parameters for possible sanctions against a private military company known as Wagner PMC, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said.

“There is a general desire to determine the legal basis for the sanctions that will be imposed on Wagner PMCs,” he said (quoted by REUTERS).

According to the minister, sanctions may threaten both the PMC itself and the companies that cooperate with it.

Le Drian announced plans to develop sanctions against PMCs on the sidelines of a meeting of EU foreign ministers, which discussed the situation in Mali.
