Exceptions made for essential medicines

US biopharmaceutical company Gilead is suspending all non-essential drug business in RUSSIA. This is stated in a statement on its website.

“While we remain committed to facilitating patient access to our life-saving medicines in Russia, all non-essential business operations in the country have been temporarily suspended,” the statement said.

The company also said that the process of “creating new clinical trial centers in Russia and Ukraine has been suspended.”

Gilead is not the first foreign pharmaceutical company to announce restrictions on its activities in Russia. Earlier investments were suspended by German Bayer, American Pfizer and MSD and Swiss Novartis. At the same time, the American Eli Lilly and the French Sanofi decided to suspend the supply of non-essential drugs to the country.
