EU begins preparation of 17th package of sanctions against Russia

The European Union is preparing a 17th package of sanctions against RUSSIA over the conflict in Ukraine and plans to agree on it in May, said the HEAD of European diplomacy Kaja Kallas, her words are reported by REUTERS .

EU Observer learned that the EU had begun preparing the 17th package of anti-Russian sanctions at the end of March. Discussions on easing sanctions against Russia have intensified amid conflict settlement talks between Moscow and Kiev and Washington. However, Euractiv wrote that the EU will not change its sanctions policy towards Russia until at least July 31, when all member states will have to vote on extending the restrictions.

The EU introduced the 16th package of sanctions on the anniversary of the start of Russia's military operation in Ukraine - February 24, 2025. The EU then introduced additional restrictions on the EXPORT of certain goods and "video game controllers, game controllers, flight simulator controllers, gamepads, joysticks." The sanctions also affected six Russian airports, including the capital's Vnukovo and Zhukovsky, five seaports and a number of people.
