EU restricts trade with Russia in iron, steel and luxury goods

The European Union announced a new, fourth, package of sanctions against RUSSIA, it provides, in addition to bans on individuals and organizations, restrictions on the trade in iron, steel and luxury goods. This was reported on the website of the European Council.

A complete list of new restrictions, as well as individuals and companies against which sanctions are tightened is not given, the EU promises to publish in the near future.

The new sanctions include:

prohibition of all financial transactions with certain state-owned enterprises; a ban on the provision of services of rating services and agencies, as well as subscriptions related to credit ratings for any Russian persons and organizations; expanding the list of individuals associated with the Russian defense or industrial complex, for whom restrictions have been tightened related to dual-use goods and technologies that can be used to strengthen the defense capability and security of Russia; a ban on investments in the Russian energy sector, as well as a massive EXPORT ban on equipment, components and services for the energy industry; further trade restrictions on the supply of iron and steel, as well as luxury goods. sanctions against "key oligarchs", "lobbyists" and "propagandists",

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said the new sanctions could affect more than 600 Russians. “A new package of sanctions that will affect more than 600 Russian citizens. <...> A significant part of the Russian financial system is under sanctions,” the minister told reporters in Brussels before the meeting of the heads of the EU finance ministries.
