Used car prices in Japan fell by 5% due to sanctions

Prices for used cars in Japan began to decline rapidly against the backdrop of anti-Russian sanctions and falling exports to RUSSIA. This is reported by the Nikkei newspaper.

In the first two weeks of March, the average price for a car in the Japanese secondary market was 785 thousand yen ($6.5 thousand), which is immediately 5% less than at the end of February.

Experts attribute this to a decrease in demand for cars in Russia, which was the largest destination for the supply of used Japanese cars.

it is noted that the largest drop in prices was recorded for car models that are most popular with Russian buyers. Among them are the Nissan Leaf electric car and the Subaru Forester crossover. On them and some other models, prices fell by almost 20%. For this reason, Japanese manufacturers predict a drop in demand for new cars.
