Bloomberg learned about Usmanov's appeal against EU sanctions

The businessman asked to suspend the personal sanctions of the European Union until the COURT decides on his appeal,reports agency Alisher Usmanov

On April 29, Russian businessman Alisher Usmanov filed an appeal with the European Court of General Jurisdiction against the EU decision to impose personal sanctions against him , BLOOMBERG reports.

According to the report, he asked the court to suspend the sanctions until the judges make a final decision on the appeal.

Usmanov's representative declined to comment on RBC.

The EU imposed sanctions on the Russian billionaire on February 28. Usmanov is also under US , Canadian, UK and Japanese sanctions.

However, in mid-April, the German federal criminal police department (BKA) established that the owner of the 156-meter superyacht Dilbar is Gulbahor Ismailova, whom the BKA calls the sister of Alisher Usmanov.

Thus, Dilbar is subject to sanctions and can be legally detained in Hamburg, the department said.

Alisher Usmanov is the founder and main shareholder of the USM group (49%), which owns Metalloinvest and MegaFon. According to Forbes, his fortune is $11.5 billion.
