The Board of Directors of JSC AvtoVAZ approved the creation of two new Lada models - a crossover based on the Lada Vesta platform, as well as a separate family of the B segment on the global platform. This was reported to RBC in the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

“The Board of Directors unanimously approved the launch of two projects of new Lada models, which should be put on the conveyor in 2024-2025,” said Denis Manturov, HEAD of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and chairman of the board of directors of AvtoVAZ JSC.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, while maintaining sanctions restrictions and problems with the supply of components, AvtoVAZ plans to produce up to 140 thousand new cars in the second half of 2022, and up to 500 thousand in 2023.

“We are also doing a lot of work to return to the configuration of our machines the usual options. In particular, Granta is already equipped with airbags, air conditioning, multimedia system. AvtoVAZ is fully aware of its responsibility to provide the country with affordable modern cars, and our entire team is making every effort to increase production and develop the LADA brand,” Manturov concluded.

The head of AvtoVAZ shared plans to release a new family of Granta Business

Earlier, AvtoVAZ President Maxim Sokolov spoke about plans to launch the production of a new version of the Vesta crossover. “It will be a new modern crossover, probably the most popular version among motorists today. And now, in the near future, it will begin to be fully developed by the AvtoVAZ scientific and technical center, ”he said.

At the same time, according to him, the automaker has not yet been able to find a replacement for about 1,500 components, on average, out of 4,500, from which the car is assembled. “Of these, about 300 different components are at risk and are constantly monitored. This, of course, forces us to work in manual mode. This creates additional risks,” Sokolov noted.
