Australia is imposing economic sanctions on the Russian military, six "high-ranking Russian military leaders" and ten others "of strategic interest to RUSSIA," Australian Foreign Minister Maryse Payne said.
These ten people were engaged in "promoting <...> propaganda" of official Moscow, Payne explained, without naming them. Sanctions against the Russian armed forces concern the ground forces, the navy, the Strategic Missile Forces and the country's aerospace forces, she continued.
“[The sanctions are aimed at] banning the EXPORT of goods from Australia to all military end users in Russia,” Payne said. She added that the target of future sanctions by Australia and its partners will be key banks, including those that are significant for the Russian defense sector.

“The Australian Government continues to work with digital platforms such as FACEBOOK, Twitter and GOOGLE to take action to suspend the distribution of content produced by Russian state media in Australia. SBS and Foxtel have already announced the suspension of broadcasting of Russia Today and NTV,” added the HEAD of the Australian Foreign Ministry.
