The mental state of 81-year-old Biden does not cause mistrust, he generally understands the situation with the conflict in Ukraine and issues related to CHINA, but specific measures are not very good, sources told AP Joe Biden

US President Joe Biden deeply understands the situation surrounding the conflict in Ukraine or threats from China , but is at a loss about specific measures taken in the context of these problems, writes the Associated Press (AP), citing sources in the US administration.

His sources added that Biden's general mental state does not raise any questions so far.

Biden is 81 years old. Discussions about his fitness to continue as president have intensified recently due to his age, especially amid disastrous debates with former President Donald Trump, who is 78 years old.

The debate took place on June 28 on CNN. The channel conducted a survey after them, according to which 67% of respondents gave victory to Trump, 33% to Biden.

As Politico wrote, citing informed sources, in early July, Biden, at a meeting with Democratic governors, said that he had undergone a medical examination in recent days and emphasized that he was still “in good HEALTH.” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Biden undergoes "verbal checks" with a DOCTOR "a couple times a week" during training, and thorough physicals every year.

She also stated that Biden has not been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (with it, the brain cells responsible for motor functions and muscle tone die, so this disease causes trembling of the hands, slowness of movements, poor coordination, and difficulty walking).

The New York Times (NYT), citing sources, wrote that at the same meeting with governors, the president announced plans to abandon official work events after 20:00 in order to get more sleep. He attributed his unsuccessful performance at the debate to overwork after major trips abroad. The NYT notes that the HEAD of state’s election headquarters cited the president’s cold as the reason for the failure at the debate.
