International economic and transport sanctions imposed against RUSSIA have a direct impact on the situation on the global food market, said Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov, his words are quoted in TELEGRAM by the diplomatic mission.
“The statements of the Westerners that their bans do not concern the supply of food and fertilizers are cunning,” the diplomat said.
Antonov assured that Moscow remains committed to its obligations under the concluded international contracts in the field of supply of agricultural products, energy, fertilizers and other goods.

On May 18, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said there was no connection between the global food crisis and the restrictive measures imposed against Russia. According to him, Washington made exceptions to the sanctions for agricultural products and fertilizers. Blinken added that the authorities of the countries of the world and international organizations can jointly seek the opening of corridors for the safe EXPORT of food from the territory of Ukraine by sea and land.
At the same time, UN Secretary General António Guterres called for allowing Russian and Belarusian food products and fertilizers to enter world markets, calling this the most effective way to avoid a food crisis.

Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the Russian side did not impose restrictions on the export of fertilizers, and therefore they should be lifted by the United States and other Western countries. Peskov added that Ukrainian ports are “heavily mined” and pose a danger to shipping, and an operation to clear them is to be done.
