The Russian Foreign Ministry has imposed personal sanctions on 144 citizens of the Baltic countries - Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, according to the agency's website.

The ministry does not provide a list of people on the Russian stop list, but notes that sanctions have been imposed on the "most hostile" to Russia ministers, deputies, public figures and journalists. Getting into this list means a ban on entry into the country.

“This step was taken as a response to the active lobbying by the Baltic states of sanctions and other measures against Russia, interference in our internal affairs, inciting Russophobic sentiments,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The report also says that the above-mentioned persons included in the stop list are involved in the “barbaric campaign for the mass demolition of monuments to Soviet soldiers-liberators, the persecution of the Russian-speaking population, the rewriting of history, the glorification of Nazism and the criminal line being pursued to escalate the Ukrainian conflict and pump up the Kiev regime with weapons” .

The Baltic countries are united in their intention to demand tougher Western sanctions against Russia and increased military assistance to Ukraine, Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins said at the end of 2022.

During the discussion of EU visa restrictions against Russians last year, the Baltic countries advocated the most stringent measures in this direction. For example, Estonia proposed to close entry to the European Union for Russian citizens. The initiative did not pass, and the EU countries in Brussels agreed only to tighten the visa regime for Russians.

The Baltic countries, Politico wrote, along with Poland are also the main supporters of the transfer of military aviation to Ukraine. This was confirmed by Latvian Prime Minister Karins. Germany is categorically against the supply of fighter jets, the United States and Great Britain do not promise such assistance to Kiev in the near future .
