RUSSIA has lost confidence in the Ukrainian negotiators, said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova in an interview with Russia-24 TV channel, the broadcast is available on the VKontakte page.
“Here it’s not like “trust and verify” – here it’s just “verify”, because there is no trust in these people for a long time,” she said, commenting on the negotiation process between Russia and Ukraine.
According to her, it was Kyiv that asked Moscow for negotiations. “From the side of the office of a man who calls himself the president of Ukraine and is endowed with appropriate powers, a request was made for negotiations. Russia did not refuse this request,” Zakharova said.
Further, according to her, a "circus" began on the part of the "Kyiv regime." “They either come, then they don’t, then they participate, then they don’t participate, then they say things the day before that contradict the results of the previous day of negotiations, then they change positions,” the official representative of the Foreign Ministry described Moscow’s impression. According to her, Russia was ready for such a development of events, because “exactly like this” all previous contacts with Ukraine were built, including negotiations within the framework of the MINSK agreements.
Zelensky called the condition for terminating negotiations with Russia Politics
“A classic scheme that says that the regime is not independent, its representatives are controlled. And the second is that the negotiations are used as a red herring,” she said.
Also, according to the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zelensky’s independence “is not necessary to talk about either now or before.” “Behind him are his curators. First of all, it is Washington and other NATO structures that have been managing this process in one way or another for many years, so talking and discussing Zelensky’s statements is a counterproductive thing,” Zakharova believes.

Lavrov announced Ukraine's departure from the proposals made in Istanbul Politics
According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in early April, after the publication of materials from Bucha, Kyiv tried to interrupt the negotiations, and also handed over to Moscow a new draft peace agreement, which differs from that provided in Istanbul.
“In that Istanbul document, the Ukrainians clearly stated that future security guarantees for Ukraine do not apply to Crimea and Sevastopol. In yesterday's draft, this clear statement is absent, instead of it, vague formulations are proposed about some kind of effective control, moreover, as of February 23, ”Lavrov said then.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also spoke about the fact that negotiations with Ukraine then returned to a deadlock. On April 13, Zakharova reported that the delegations of Russia and Ukraine are still negotiating the settlement of the sieve in an online format, however, according to her, the representatives of Kyiv are trying to delay the negotiation process, and not reach an agreement.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Kyiv will stop negotiating with Moscow if the remaining military in Mariupol is destroyed.
