Why it is necessary to allow the privatization of forests in Russia
The HEAD of the RFP Group, Konstantin Lashkevich, in an interview with RBC, proposed to allow the privatization of 2-3% of the forest territory of Russia. This is necessary in order to be able to engage in intensive forest cultivation in such areas: as long as there is no such decision, it is unprofitable for these logging companies to engage in this. Lashkevich also explained why the roundwood EXPORT ban, which comes into force on January 1, 2022, is a disaster for the company and why RFP needs exemptions from it.
RFP Group is the largest timber industry enterprise in the Far East, 58% of its shares are owned by Roman Abramovich and Alexander Abramov. However, they have been looking for buyers for their shares since at least the spring of 2020. And Lashkevich told RBC why.About why the holding decided to abandon plans to build a pulp and paper mill in Amursk and how the Chinese are preparing for a ban on timber exports from Russia, read in the RBC Pro article:
