Shevchuk is 66 years old. He has been the permanent leader of DDT since its founding in 1980. The group's discography includes more than 20 albums. Last spring, a report was drawn up against Shevchuk under Art. 20.3.3 Administrative Code on discrediting the army during a concert in Ufa on May 18. Then he made an anti-war appeal and spoke about his understanding of the Motherland.

In August, the Soviet COURT of Ufa found the musician guilty of an administrative case for discrediting the army and imposed a fine of 50 thousand rubles on him.

The court explained that this decision was made because Shevchuk asked the audience questions that encouraged them to doubt the goals of the Russian military operation in Ukraine , and used “negative expressions” addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The defense appealed the decision, but in December the Supreme Court of Bashkiria refused to cancel the fine.

In the spring, DDT concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg , planned for May and June, were canceled and postponed indefinitely “for reasons beyond the control of the team and organizers.” Initially, the group was supposed to perform in St. Petersburg back in October 2020, but the CORONAVIRUS pandemic prevented it. The concert in Moscow was also canceled due to covid-19 and postponed to June 10 last year, but it never took place. Shevchuk claimed that the organizers did not receive permission from the capital authorities because of the case of discrediting the army.
