Japan suspends use of Moderna vaccine due to impurities found

Japanese authorities have suspended vaccination against CORONAVIRUS with Moderna due to impurities found in several doses. This was reported by the Kyodo agency, citing the Ministry of HEALTH, Labor and Welfare of the country.

According to the agency, there are reports of impurities of a few millimetres. received from eight vaccination centers in five prefectures - Aichi, Gifu, Ibaraki, Saitama and Tokyo. that the impurity particle size is several millimeters. Japanese drugmaker Takeda Pharmaceutical Co., which is responsible for marketing and distributing the Moderna vaccine in the country, said it was suspending about 1.63 million doses.

In turn, Moderna promised the Japanese authorities to begin an investigation into this incident.

In addition to Moderna drugs, Japan is vaccinating with drugs from the British-Swedish company ASTRAZENECA and the American-German consortium of Pfizer and BioNTech.
