Japan has decided to send Ukraine unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as masks and clothing for chemical protection at the request of Kyiv, the country's defense ministry said.

“In response to a new request from the Government of Ukraine, we have decided to provide the Government of Ukraine with protective masks, protective clothing and unmanned aerial vehicles for responding to chemical weapons,” the message says.

Prior to this, Tokyo had sent non-lethal equipment such as bulletproof vests to Kyiv as part of the three principles for the transfer of defense equipment.

The military department assured that, together with the self-defense forces of Japan, it intends to continue to provide Ukraine with the maximum possible support.

Also, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida intends to express Tokyo's firm position on the situation in Ukraine in a closed conversation with US President Joe Biden and other allies. Hirokazu Matsuno, secretary general of the Japanese government, spoke about this, the Asahi newspaper reports. “The participation of Prime Minister Kishida in this conversation is planned. We intend to express our firm position on the situation in Ukraine,” the Secretary General said.
