The government of the Russian Federation called an emergency measure (against the background of the worsening situation with the pandemic) bills on the mandatory introduction of "antique" QR codes in transport, in cafes and shops. The relevant bills were previously submitted to the State Duma - their entry into force will depend on the timing of consideration and the readiness of the regions, RBC wrote.

Some of the restrictions are already introduced by the regions themselves. In St. Petersburg , for example, they regularly expand the list of public places where you cannot get into without a black and white set of pixels. When and what kind of QR codes do we enter?

In October 2021, the governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov signed amendments to city government decree No. 121, which made the presence of a QR code a mandatory condition for visiting public places. Fans of cultural leisure and tourists were the first to face the new requirements.

From October 30, QR codes must be presented at museums, theaters, circuses, concert halls, cinemas, as well as when checking into hotels, boarding houses, rest houses and sanatoriums. For hotels and other hospitality facilities, there is an alternative in the form of a negative PCR test taken less than three days ago. From November 1, visitors (with the exception of children and adolescents under 18 years of age) were prohibited from accessing congress and exhibition, sports and physical culture events with more than 40 people without QR codes. From November 15, it is necessary to present a QR code at swimming pools and fitness centers, entertainment venues, as well as at the registry office at the ceremony of solemn registration of marriage.
