The peak incidence of coronavirus covid-19 in Moscow is expected by the end of this week. This was during the plenary meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO) "Regions for Health", which was held online, said Deputy Head of the Moscow Health Department Elena Khavkina.
“Today Moscow, like the whole world, is going through a new, fourth wave. Unfortunately, we expect that by the end, probably this week, we will have a fairly high peak in the incidence,” she said.
Experts named four factors that dramatically increased the death rate from covid Society
On October 21, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that in the capital the number of daily coronavirus cases detected would soon reach historic highs. “In the coming days, we will reach historical peaks in the incidence of covid,” he wrote in his blog, adding that the epidemiological situation in the city is developing according to the “worst case scenario”. Later, amid the worsening situation with COVID-19, he announced the introduction of non-working days in Moscow from October 28 to November 7.
At the same time, Professor Vladimir Chulanov, chief freelance specialist in non-communicable diseases of the Ministry of Health, noted that it is too early to say that the incidence of COVID-19 in RUSSIA has reached a peak this autumn. According to him, the further spread of coronavirus in the country will depend on the pace of vaccination and compliance with anti-epidemic measures. At the same time, the level of vaccination coverage of the population is a key factor, Chulanov emphasized.
