Police have fined Australian Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce A$200 ($158) for not wearing a mask at a gas station in Armidale, Deputy Police Commissioner Gary Waroboys told ABC. Police officers arrived after a call about violation of regulations.
The incident happened at about 8 am at a gas station 500 km northwest of Sydney. Deputy Prime Minister Joyce was indoors without a mask, in defiance of epidemic requirements. According to Commissioner Woroboys, Joyce apologized. “The case in Armidale proves that the police will investigate and take action in case of any violation of the epidemic rules,” Woroboys said.
