In Russia, almost 800 people died from COVID-19 per day

Over the past day, 794 people have died from CORONAVIRUS in RUSSIA. This follows from the data of the operational headquarters for the fight against infection.

Similar figures (780-790 deaths per day) have been recorded in the country for several days. A significantly lower number of deaths from the infection per day was detected only on August 21 - on this day, 762 people died due to covid-19 and related consequences in Russia. On August 17, 805 patients infected with COVID-19 died in the country.

Experts registered the highest number of deaths from coronavirus in Russia over the past day in Moscow (+56) and St. Petersburg (+39). These figures are well below the peak data of the last two months. For example, on June 28, an absolute record for mortality since the beginning of the pandemic was recorded in Moscow - on that day, 124 people with COVID-19 died in the city. The record for mortality in St. Petersburg was recorded on June 29: then 119 infected patients died there.

In other Russian regions, according to data from August 24, most people died from COVID-19 in:

Krasnodar Territory - 33; Sverdlovsk region - 31; Perm Territory - 29; Rostov and Voronezh regions - 28; Chelyabinsk region - 25.

In total, according to the operational headquarters, during the coronavirus pandemic in Russia, 177,614 people died from it. However, according to Rosstat estimates, by the end of April 2021, more than 270,000 patients with COVID-19 had died in Russia.

The methodology by which the mortality rate is calculated by the operational headquarters differs from the methodology of Rosstat. The latter takes into account all deaths after coronavirus disease, including those cases when it was not the main cause of death, but significantly affected the development of complications of another disease.
