In Russia, the second day in a row recorded less than 800 deaths from COVID

In RUSSIA, 799 people with CORONAVIRUS infection have died in the last 24 hours, according to the operational headquarters. The day before, on August 27, the authorities reported 798 deaths. Prior to this, two days in a row the number of victims exceeded 800, the daily record was set on August 26 (820 people).

The largest number of victims per day was registered in Moscow (55). In St. Petersburg , 36 people died, in the Krasnodar Territory - 34. In total, according to the headquarters, since the beginning of the pandemic, the number of deaths has amounted to 180,840 people.

The methodology for calculating mortality, which is used by the operational headquarters, differs from the methodology of Rosstat. The statistical office takes into account all deaths after covid-19 , even those cases where the virus was not the main cause of death. According to him, in July alone, 50.4 thousand people with coronavirus died in Russia, which was the maximum figure in a month. Of these, COVID-19 became the main cause of death for 44.1 thousand people. Since the beginning of 2021, 161.5 thousand people have died from coronavirus as the main cause of death in the country, and a total of 367.5 thousand people have died from COVID-19.

Over the past day, COVID-19 was detected in 19.4 thousand Russians, new cases were registered in all 85 regions. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 6.86 million cases of infection have been confirmed in the country, 6.14 million people have recovered.
