The diagnosis of salmonellosis was confirmed in 8 visitors to one of the Kazan cafes. During the inspection of the institution, violations of sanitary rules and anti-covid measures were revealed. Cafe activity suspended pending COURT decision

According to the press service of the department of Rospotrebnadzor in the Republic of Tatarstan, from September 4 to 7, 20 emergency notifications were received about cases of intestinal infection among the population. it was found that all the sick ate in one of the cafes located on the Kremlin street of the city. 

12 people were hospitalized, the rest are now on outpatient treatment. To date, the diagnosis of salmonellosis has been confirmed in 8 cases, and the rest of the tests are in progress.

Upon receipt of the first 3 emergency notifications, Rospotrebnadzor of the Republic of Tatarstan conducted an epidemiological investigation into the circumstances of the occurrence of a group disease. In the cafe, samples of raw materials and products were taken, swabs were taken from environmental objects and personnel were examined. All patients ate poached eggs, croissants with lightly salted salmon, bruschetta with salmon and bacon.

“According to the results of laboratory studies, Salmonella enteritidis was found in the home-made sauce for the poached egg dish and in lightly salted salmon; bacteria of the Escherichia coli group were found in lightly salted salmon, mixed salad, poached egg. Also, bacteria of the E. coli group were found in 7 out of 10 swabs taken from the equipment, utensils and overalls of the cook who prepared the above dishes, ”Rospotrebnadzor reports.

Salmonella was found from two employees of the cafe - a cook and a waiter. Now they are suspended from work.
