European regulator updates advice on side effects from Pfizer/BioNTech, ASTRAZENECA and Moderna vaccines and their possible association with rare diseases

The Safety Committee of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has summed up the preliminary results of studies of side effects experienced by patients who received injections of CORONAVIRUS vaccines.

We are talking about drugs officially approved for use in the European Union.

For example, the committee report states that the Comirnaty and Spikevax vaccines (mRNA vaccines manufactured by Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna) in extremely rare cases can lead to myocarditis and pericarditis. These diseases are recommended to be added to the list of side effects.

In the EU, about 177 million doses of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine were administered, there were 145 cases of myocarditis in the vaccinated, and 138 cases of pericarditis. The Moderna vaccine was injected about 2 million times, and 19 cases of both heart diseases were detected among the vaccinated.
