The “yellow fungus” found in a covid-19 patient in India does not threaten RUSSIA, since fungal diseases are most common in countries where people live in unsanitary and special climatic conditions, interviewed experts told RBC.

“I think that this is not dangerous for us because of the climatic and sanitary conditions. In India, high humidity at high air temperatures, the sanitary condition of many Indian reservoirs and medical institutions also leaves much to be desired. We don't have that kind of humidity. Although we also have fungi that annoy people, ”said Alexander Chepurnov, a leading researcher at the Federal Research Center for Fundamental and Translational Medicine.

According to him, the cause of the appearance of fungi in those who have recovered from COVID-19 is a weakened body after an illness.

“By themselves, such fungi develop against the background of reduced immunity - pink lichen, candidiasis. CORONAVIRUS seriously damages all body systems: circulatory, immune, nervous,” the scientist explained.

He noted that although it is impossible to deny the likelihood of the appearance of fungi in Russia, so far, in his opinion, this does not threaten. “Although, of course, warming is happening in our country, and some sores are coming that weren’t here before,” Chepurnov added.
