In Moscow, 2.3 million packages of anticancer drugs were produced in 2022. This is 5.1% more than a year earlier, Mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin said in his TELEGRAM channel.

In just a year, medicines worth 33.6 billion rubles were produced in the capital, which is 13.9% more than in 2021.

According to the mayor, providing medical institutions and the population with modern medicines and vaccines is one of the priorities of the city authorities. “Therefore, we provide systematic and anti-crisis support to pharmaceutical enterprises: we provide subsidies, preferential loans and loans, as well as tax incentives by assigning the status of an industrial complex,” Sobyanin specified. “Seven pharmaceutical enterprises have already received this status.”

As an example, the mayor of the capital cited the Binnopharm plant in Zelenograd, which became the world's first site for the production of a vaccine against covid-19 (Sputnik V).

Sobyanin stressed that 95 pharmaceutical enterprises currently operate in Moscow, employing more than 15,000 people. The mayor of the capital added that Moscow produces drugs for the treatment of not only cancer, but also cardiovascular diseases, disorders of the NERVOUS SYSTEM, diabetes, as well as antibiotics and vaccines.

In addition, Sobyanin said that the city enters into offset contracts with investors. One of the first was an agreement with Biocad signed in 2017. As a result, a complex for the production of medicines, including antitumor drugs, was built in the capital.

“We are also creating a large pharmaceutical cluster based on the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, which brings together nine drug developers and manufacturers. By 2027, we plan to increase the number of pharmaceutical production facilities to 15,” the mayor added.
