In a sample of patients in Moscow, which was made by the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA) to study its test system, the proportion of those infected with the omicron strain of CORONAVIRUS was more than 76%. This was told by the HEAD of the FMBA Veronika Skvortsova on the air of the RUSSIA 24 TV channel.

According to Skvortsova, the proportion of those infected with the omicron strain exceeded 76%, while in mid-December the share of omicron was 1–2%, at the end of the month it was about 7%, and in early January it was about 20%.

On January 11, the FMBA announced the development of its own test system for detecting the omicron strain. German Shipulin, Deputy DIRECTOR of the TsSP FMBA, noted that the set of reagents of the test system allows one and a half hours with "high sensitivity" to detect and differentiate in one test tube the genovariants of the "omicron" and "delta" strains.

Previously Director of the Center N.F. Gamalei Alexander Gintsburg reported that only about 30% of all cases of covid-19 in Moscow are due to the Omicron strain.
