German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, after a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, called the HEAD of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, the press service of the German government reports.

“The chancellor spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and learned his assessment of the current situation [in Ukraine] and the negotiation process. They agreed to keep in touch, ”the message says.

The conversation took place after Scholz phoned Putin. The topic of the conversation between the president and the chancellor was also negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. “The Chancellor called on the President of RUSSIA for an early ceasefire and improvement of the humanitarian situation,” the press service said about the conversation. Putin told Scholz about Russian proposals in negotiations with Kyiv.

Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine began at the end of February, the first three rounds were held on February 28, as well as on March 3 and 7 in a face-to-face format on the territory of Belarus. Then the parties continued their meetings in an online format. Zelensky said after the next round that the negotiation process is progressing "step by step." Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused the Ukrainian delegation of constantly changing its position.
