Those arriving from South Africa and Hong Kong no longer need to comply with a 14-day quarantine and undergo two tests for CORONAVIRUS, follows from the decision of Rospotrebnadzor, published on the legal information portal.

The resolution was signed by the HEAD of the department, Anna Popova. it cancels another document dated December 4, 2021. According to the order, arrivals from Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, Eswatini, South Africa and Hong Kong were required to quarantine for two weeks and take two PCR tests for covid-19  - first in the first two days after arrival, and then from the tenth to the 12th day.

The measure was introduced to stop the import into RUSSIA of the omicron strain of coronavirus, which at that time had just begun to spread in the world. For the first time a new strain was identified in South Africa.
