Russian business has suggested that the authorities make the vaccination of citizens virtually mandatory and free of charge, even in private clinics. This was reported by the Izvestia newspaper with reference to a joint letter from the Association of Retail Trade Companies (AKORT) and the Association of Internet Trade Companies (AKIT) addressed to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko.
“To combat the CORONAVIRUS, the trade has proposed moving towards a de facto mandatory and universal vaccination. In addition, business believes that it is worth allowing citizens to be vaccinated for free not only in state clinics, but also in private ones, ”the newspaper points out.
The publication notes that AKORT and AKIT proposed to abandon the closure of stores on non-working days, since the period from October to December is a season of high demand in trade, and at this time "30-50% of annual revenue" is formed. “The closure of retail outlets will have a detrimental effect on both trade enterprises and the country's economy as a whole,” the newspaper cites an excerpt from the letter.
In addition, the document states that the industry has developed a special regulation for functioning during a pandemic, which implies strict adherence to sanitary measures in stores. According to this regulation, stores should try to separate the flow of visitors at the entrance and exit, disinfect surfaces, send employees to eat in groups according to the schedule. “Controlling the rate of vaccination is the most effective measure in the fight against the spread of coronavirus infection <...> It is also possible to increase the level of vaccination in the country with the help of financial incentives,” Izvestia quotes Artem Sokolov, President of AKIT.
The press service of the government told Izvestiya that they had received a corresponding appeal and sent it to Rospotrebnadzor.
