Since mid-November, Rospotrebnadzor has recorded an increase in the incidence of acute respiratory infections in St. Petersburg: coronavirus, as well as SARS, not including influenza. As Irina Kataeva, HEAD of the epidemiological surveillance department of the Rospotrebnadzor Administration for St. Petersburg, told reporters, the incidence in the week from November 21 to 27 increased by 19% compared to the week before.
“Growth is recorded in general in all age groups, but with a maximum increase in the age group of children 7-14 years old by 35%. As for the “covid”, we also note a slight increase in it. For four weeks, the growth rate was almost 19%. Of the clinical manifestations [of coronavirus], the manifestation of ARVI symptoms prevails, ”said Irina Kataeva.
According to the federal pandemic control headquarters, 730 cases of covid-19 were detected in St. Petersburg over the past day , 126 citizens were hospitalized.
According to Irina Kataeva, in St. Petersburg, among respiratory infections, doctors began to register swine flu. However, so far such cases are rare.
Polyclinics and city hospitals have already prepared for the seasonal rise in SARS and influenza, said Larisa Solovyova, head of the outpatient medical care organization of the St. Petersburg HEALTH Committee. “We have prepared so-called filter boxes in outpatient facilities. There are 171 of them by sites - in children's and adult clinics. In adults, these are units that accept patients with signs of infectious diseases. We opened them at the end of last year, they played a role in the rise of “omicron” in February and early March and continue to work,” she said. As Solovyova clarified, patients with symptoms of SARS enter the filter box through a separate entrance. They take a test for coronavirus from the sick there, prescribe treatment, they can open a sick leave certificate and, if COVID-19 is suspected, give preferential medicines.
According to Rospotrebnadzor, the introduction of a general quarantine for schoolchildren is not required. At the moment, Irina Kataeva clarified, schools make their own decisions about transferring a class to “remote” or closing it for quarantine if 20% of the children are absent from the group. She added that 21 classes were quarantined in St. Petersburg last week.
