The situation with the incidence of CORONAVIRUS infection in RUSSIA is not critical now, and there is no need to introduce any restrictions at the federal level, Natalya Pshenichnaya, deputy DIRECTOR of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, told reporters.

She urged people to follow standard precautions: wear masks in public places, wash your hands thoroughly. “You should also be vaccinated if the time has come,” added Pshenichnaya (quoted by RIA Novosti).

The specialist pointed out that, despite the increase in cases of infection due to the emergence of new strains, the total weekly incidence of covid-19 in Russia is at least 8-10 times lower than the total weekly incidence of influenza and SARS, which is usually recorded during the autumn-winter season.

Scientists have discovered in Russia a new strain of coronavirus "Russian deltacron" Society

The number of covid cases in Russia has been on the rise since mid-July. The day before, the operational headquarters reported that 27.8 thousand new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in the country per day, this is the maximum since March 21. Even before the rise in the incidence, Rospotrebnadzor canceled all coronavirus restrictions that remained in a number of regions. So far, the department has recommended wearing protective masks for people at risk: those with chronic diseases and the elderly.

In early August, American geneticist Dmitry Pruss told RBC that researchers had discovered a new variant of the coronavirus in Russia, which is a hybrid of the Omicron and Delta strains; he received the unofficial name "Russian deltacron". The danger of the new strain has yet to be explored. According to Rospotrebnadzor, as of August 10, six cases of this variant of the coronavirus were detected in Russia.
