The Russian direct investment fund, which fell under US sanctions , has promised to use all means of protection in response to the "defamatory" statements of the administration of President Joe Biden, the fund said in a message to RBC.

“The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) has never been involved in political activities, does not participate in any way in interaction with Ukraine, follows the best global investment practices, which has been recognized by all international partners of the fund and national regulators, and fully complies with the laws of the countries in which it implements their projects,” the sovereign wealth fund said in a statement.

On Monday, February 28, the United States imposed blocking sanctions against the RDIF and its HEAD, Kirill Dmitriev. The US Treasury said in a statement that the RDIF was seen as an institution through which RUSSIA benefited from access to the US financial system. Washington indicated that the purpose of the fund was to attract investment to Russia from abroad. “In a broad sense, this is the foundation of Vladimir Putin and one of the symbols of Russian kleptocracy,” the US authorities said in a statement.
