Russian producers of soft drinks are afraid of stopping lines: the share of imported equipment at enterprises is more than 90%, and due to sanctions, there may be failures in the supply of components, said Maxim Novikov, president of the Soyuznapitki association. His words are quoted by the press service of the union, RIA Novosti reports.
The program for import substitution of equipment for the food industry over the past four years has not yielded any significant results, replacing equipment with Russian counterparts is now not possible, Novikov warned. “Companies have appeared that are capable of producing fairly serious bottling lines for enterprises in the top ten. But in order to completely replace imports, we need to build chains that will allow us to produce chips and microelectronics in Russia,” he explained.
Founded in 2002, Soyuznapitki (Union of Producers of Juices, Water and Drinks) unites 74 companies, which account for about 70% of juices, packaged water and soft drinks produced. Union members are Chernogolovka, Aquastar, Danone Russia, Coca-Cola HBC Eurasia and others
Novikov also pointed to difficulties in the supply of raw materials and components for production due to rising product prices and the restructuring of logistics routes. The HEAD of Soyuznapitki asked the government for support and expressed the hope that "possible retaliatory sanctions from Russia will not be associated with changes in the existing logistics infrastructure."
Earlier, Novikov warned about problems with the supply of raw materials from producers of orange juice, the concentrated base for which was imported from the US and the EU. Raw material prices rose, and purchases from former exporters became unprofitable. The most pessimistic scenario assumes that the share of orange juice among packaged juices will fall from 20% to zero. “We are focusing on the upcoming changes in the assortment,” he said. Problems with the supply of raw materials, equipment and packaging can arise not only with orange juice, but other types of juices are unlikely to have such serious problems.
Producers have warned of a reduction in the production of orange juice Society
Producers intend to increase the production of grape juice in return, its market share (5-7%) may increase five to six times, the chairman of Soyuznapitkov said. For this, negotiations are underway with producers of raw materials from Uzbekistan.
