German tire manufacturer Continental has temporarily resumed production of passenger car tires at its plant in Kaluga, REUTERS reports.

This was done in order to protect workers, the company explained. "Our employees and managers will face severe criminal consequences if we do not meet local demand," Continental said in a statement to Reuters. The company resumed the production of exclusively civilian products.
