Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder called on the European Medicines Agency (EMA) to approve the Russian CORONAVIRUS vaccine Sputnik V as soon as possible, according to Bild am Sonntag.

According to him, the vaccination of the population against covid-19 should not “stumble”.

“First of all, it is necessary to expedite the consideration [of the application for approval] of Sputnik V,” Söder said, noting that “one cannot delay for a purely ideological reason.”

Previously, the Bavarian authorities did not rule out the purchase of 2.5 million doses of Sputnik V if approved by the EMA. However, the German federal government is waiting for the regulator’s decision on the Russian vaccine no earlier than September “due to lack of data,” the publication reports.
