HEAD of the Department of Epidemiology and Hygiene of PSMU Irina Feldblum, in a conversation with RBC Perm, gave her forecast regarding the end of the covid-19 pandemic . In her opinion, the Omicron strain is final and after it the pandemic should end.

“I express my point of view on this matter. If immunity to the virus is created, then, probably, the COVID-19 pandemic should end on the “omicron”. This does not mean that wave 5 will be shorter and we will all be free by spring. I think that such a serious rise, such a serious wave should be the last. Then there will be minor seasonal rises that we experience every year, and there should not be such critical rises, ”the epidemiologist said.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that the capital had reached a plateau in the incidence of CORONAVIRUS. Irina Feldblum also predicted when the Perm Territory would reach this plateau.

“The Perm Territory is about 1.5-2 weeks behind Moscow, so we have not yet reached the peak, we are at the beginning of this epidemiological rise,” added Irina Feldblum.

Earlier, RBC Perm reported that Irina Feldblum, head of the Department of Epidemiology and Hygiene at PSMU, believes that the incidence statistics do not correspond to the real picture.

“I believe that the statistics that we have today do not reflect the true picture. Not because we are trying to keep it silent, hide it, cover it up, but simply the approaches to diagnosing SARS, influenza, and COVID-19 are not the same. Therefore, the fact that today the incidence is overwhelmed is all relative. Today we cannot say that the registered incidence corresponds to the actual one. Many do not apply for mild clinical forms, they are not examined, therefore they do not correspond, ”Irina Feldblum told RBC Perm.
