S7 Airlines does not support the initiative of mandatory verification of QR codes when purchasing air tickets. The introduction of a mandatory code requirement for check-in and boarding flights needs to be worked out in more detail, S7 Group spokeswoman Irina Dunkova told RBC.

“As S7 Airlines has previously stated, the requirement to check QR codes during check-in and boarding a flight requires detailed technological development. At the same time, we do not support checking QR codes when buying air tickets,” Dunkova said.

According to preliminary estimates by S7 Airlines, with the introduction of such restrictions, passenger traffic on domestic flights may fall by 50%.

Earlier it became known that the government had prepared two bills that determine the procedure for the introduction and use of QR codes for vaccination against covid-19 in RUSSIA . Until February 1, instead of QR codes, it will still be possible to present a fresh PCR test, but after this date, only those who have received a medical exemption from vaccination will have such an opportunity. The work of public transport, pharmacies, grocery stores and stores with essential goods will not be affected by the bill. However, QR codes should become mandatory when visiting public places, traveling on trains and traveling by plane.
