Respondents also reported plans to undergo medical examination before vacation. Respondents stated the need to get vaccinated against tick-borne encephalitis and visit public places less during the pandemic.

At the same time, residents of the city who do not have elderly relatives pay less attention to their health. In this group of Novosibirsk residents, only 32% of respondents plan to be vaccinated against coronavirus, another 15% will check the level of antibodies to the infection. Only 19% of respondents will buy health insurance against 22% in the group of people with older relatives.

Nearly 42% of those surveyed in families with children announced plans to get vaccinated against coronavirus, 22% will check the level of antibodies to the infection, 24% will buy travel health insurance. 16% of respondents would set aside additional money for possible medical expenses.

Irina Yarygova, HEAD of retail business development at Raiffeisenbank in the Siberian-Urals macroregion, noted that, as a rule, the amount of self-treatment is more than the cost of insurance, therefore, in general, 17% of Novosibirsk residents have a positive attitude towards insurance for travelers. “Insurance starts to “work” if you are more than 200 km from your permanent place of residence,” said Yarygova.
