Europe has nothing to replace Russian gas over the next five years, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on the air of the Rossiya 1 TV channel.
“Judge for yourself: as for the gas industry, we supply about 200 billion cubic meters of gas while Europe consumes 500 billion cubic meters, which is almost 60% of exports. There is definitely nothing to replace this in one year, or in three, or in five years, ”he said.
Novak called Europe's complete rejection of Russian energy carriers "some kind of apocalyptic scenario."

Earlier, on March 10, the European Commission presented a draft plan for an accelerated waiver of Russian energy imports. In accordance with it, the authorities hope to reduce the EU's need for Russian gas by 2/3 by the end of 2022.
