Recall that the first batch of the Sputnik M vaccine, intended for immunization of children and adolescents, arrived in the Rostov Region in January 2021. They can be vaccinated by minors from 12 to 17 years old.
Vaccination of adolescents is voluntary. In order to receive the vaccination, a written application from the parents or legal representatives of the child and voluntary informed consent for children from 12 to 14 years of age must be provided. Adolescents aged 15 to 17 sign the consent on their own.
The Ministry of HEALTH of the Russian Federation registered the Sputnik M vaccine on November 24, 2021. As reported on the official website of the drug, the vaccine for children was called "Sputnik M" because it was made on the basis of "Sputnik V", and the letter "M" means "for little ones."
