Last year, against the backdrop of the CORONAVIRUS pandemic, all-Russian proms for schoolchildren and students were offered to be held online. For example, in St. Petersburg, the annual celebration of graduates of city schools "Scarlet Sails" was held in the format of a television broadcast.

This year, the authorities of St. Petersburg, despite the worsening situation with COVID-19, decided to hold Scarlet Sails in the traditional format. For the event in the city center, traffic, cafes and the sale of ALCOHOL were limited. Despite this, the center of St. Petersburg was filled with walkers, among them were not only graduates. As RIA Novosti noted, many graduates removed their protective equipment after passing through checkpoints.

The Kremlin noted that the Scarlet Sails were organized taking into account the recommendations of the sanitary authorities, and there were no direct bans on major events in the city.
