Swedish Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist condemned the incident and declared the violation of Swedish airspace unacceptable.

According to the publication, Swedish Gripen aircraft were sent towards the Russian An-30, which were then returned. Aftonbladet also cites a comment by former military Jørgen Elfwing, who suggested that if the incident was intentional, it was intended to highlight Russia's dissatisfaction with Sweden's rapprochement with NATO.

In early March, the Swedish Armed Forces announced that four Russian aircraft had violated the country's airspace - two Su-27 fighters and two Su-24 bombers. The incident took place in the Baltic Sea east of the island of Gotland. Hulkvist then also called this unacceptable and assured that a "clear diplomatic signal" would follow.
